Day 1 - Kitten-sitting adventures...
I finally reached the lavender scented apartment. Turns out I was walking up and down the wrong street looking for the dumpster landmark without luck. I eventually discovered it overflowing a street over. Dragging behind me was my luggage with a missing wheel that I must have misplaced on one of the streets I had crossed earlier. Thanks to construction rerouting the normal 15 min ride became; what was it? an hour! I ended up taking the wrong train into Brooklyn so I could at least walk to the correct station. I over crossed it a few blocks then had to turn back with this annoying scraping noise behind me. Fortunately the cat was here when I arrived. I performed the normal ritual of first laying down on the bed so that Janie, or as I call her Cleopatra, could pur and greet me in her kitty voice. After all that I stripped off my drenched clothing to cool off. Mikey felt gross. Mikey felt real gross.
I discovered a letter for me on the table. What a beautiful drawing of the Belvedere on brown parchment. Next to it was an award with my name on it announcing me as the winner of the Drag Award. I never even realized I was entered in the contest but I graciously accepted my certificate and waved lightly. I attempted to read my letter but Cleopatra was interfering with my eyesight and the parchment so I promised I'd attend to my post later. She thanked me and licked my salty arm. She seems happy for the company. The gentle owners of this feline left me a series of gifts and various post it notes throughout the apartment. One of the presents was a small Muppet key-chain of the dog Rowlf. Now honestly, who would leave dog paraphernalia while I'm sitting a Cat? Kitty was sure to share her disposition by pawing at Rowlf, so I told her I valued her input and tucked him away. She continued to lick my arm. Maybe she realized I needed a bath? It's true.
